Aph is the energetic and cheerful crown prince of Afybia. He strives to do the best for his people, but his inquisitive nature often leads to him finding trouble in pursuit of answers. He has always loved studying maps and reading about the worlds around his that he dreams of someday traveling to.

Xzarkro is the talented apprentice to the Royal Mage of Afybia. A childhood accident rendered him mute, but he has mastered a difficult form of telepathy magic as a means to communicate. When not practicing his magic, he can be found goofing off on the castle grounds with his childhood friends.

(Pronunciation: Uh-nara)

Ahnara is an unapologetic young woman with a wonder and curiosity for the limited world around her. She spends most of her days at the castle, causing mischief with her two best friends. She has a remarkable affinity for water magic, but mostly uses her abilities for the occasional prank.

(Pronunciation: Suh-fear-oh)

Saphiro is the sole survivor of his people, the Daegna. Despite the constant government surveillance, they always have a smile on their face. He speaks and dresses in a very distinctive style, aiming to make the people around him confront the fact that he exists and what they did to his kind.

Mesi is a headstrong bounty hunter with a solid sense of justice. She initially wanted to be a detective, but quickly became disillusioned with law enforcement and teamed up with Saphiro instead. Her propensity to speak her mind endears her to others but is not always helpful.

Haro is a loud and brash young man who disguises a big heart with affected judgement. He was a hired gun before a bizarre set of circumstances and charisma led him to join Saphiro’s bounty hunting squad. He now fights to bring his former colleagues to justice.

Varlo is the tired but dedicated royal advisor for the king of Afybia. Despite his father’s wishes that he would join the royal guard, he found a love and skill for clerical work and a lifelong call to assist the royal family. He is known to be rather sickly, but his best friend, Bertel, is always around to help him take care of himself.

Bertel is a kind man with a heart of gold, and the head of the royal staff at the castle. He can often be found whistling or singing to himself while he works and is always happy to lend a hand. When not working, he is typically spotted not too far away from his best friend, Varlo.

Marla is an idealistic young man with strict views of what’s right and wrong. He believes that he is the only one who can fix the things that are wrong with the world around him, and that he and his allies can alleviate suffering. He has the blood of nearly every race in the system, and because of this his strange mix of powers can often backfire on him.

(Pronunciation: Gory-in)

Gori'an is the captain of all Nightlight operations and an overall pleasant young man. He can come off as simple, but is not to be underestimated. Trained as a warrior in his childhood, Gori'an is extremely capable with his weapon of choice, dual blades magically summoned and dismissed at his will. Above all else, he loves Marla and Kayro and would go to great lengths in order to protect them.

Kayro is a gifted young doctor who easily could have been one of the most successful physicians and scientists on his home planet of Ascenron if he hadn't left as a child with his best friend, Marla. He feels much more fulfilled serving the members of Nightlight, proud of how many people have joined their cause. He does often wish that nobody, especially Marla and Gori'an, would get hurt.

Kiro is the Royal Mage of Afybia, though he is eagerly anticipating the day when his apprentice Xzarkro takes this position. Kiro has been blind since birth and discovered a method to channel magical energies in a way that lets him sense auras. He now specializes in the development of magic that aids disabilities. His other claim to fame is his propensity for long-winded and rambling speeches.
